Newcastle Hunters stung by Hornets in Basketball; Maitland surprises
In round 11 of the men’s Waratah Australian Basketball League at the Newcastle Basketball Stadium the Hills Hornets met the Newcastle Hunters in a bottom of the table clash. After the round the Hunters remain at the bottom of the ten team table while the Hornets are just above in 9th spot.
The Maitland Mustangs men made best use of their home court advantage to overcome the higher placed Sutherland Sharks in the Waratah Australian Basketball League (WABL) last weekend. In the women’s game the Hills Hornets managed to outlast the Newcastle Hunters by 66 to 62. The Hornets won both of the first two quarters narrowly to lead 39 – 31 at half time. While the Hunters won both the last two quarters it was not enough to overcome the first half deficit and they went down by 66 to 62.
